Successful Launch of Tree of Peace PDF Argraffu Ebost
Mae'n ddrwg gennym, nid yw'r cofnod hwn ar gael yn y Gymraeg.

To celebrate the founding vision of the Festival, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod launched the Tree of Peace where people can, in exchange for a small donation, dedicate their own messages to the concept of peace thereby ensuring that the founders’ vision is safeguarded for future generations. Virgina Barrett performed her song ‘One Voice’, composed especially about the Eisteddfod’s involvement with peace.

The launch was attended by Eisteddfod Officials including, Eisteddfod President Terry Waite CBE who spoke at the launch: “Peace begins in our own hearts... Peace begins with yourself”. He was also the first to pin his message to the tree, which said: “Let us seek for peace and justice”.

The Tree of Peace will allow people, for a donation of anything from 50 pence upwards, to capture a message for peace that will be pinned on the tree. These messages will then be collected at the end of the Festival and recorded in a booklet available for people to purchase and be inspired. Proceeds from the Tree of Peace will allow Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod to continue its work in bringing the nations of the world
together and to be a beacon for peace.

Over 300 messages were collected for the Tree of Peace following its launch at the 2009 Eisteddfod. These will be collated during the Autumn and will be available in booklet form at a price of £2 in the latter half of the year. Many thanks to all who left messages and donations, particularly the children
